The 24-hour general strike, staged by Argentina’s labour unions, brought much of Argentina to a halt, with shops and supermarkets shut, flights cancelled, and even banks and schools closed in solidarity.
The controversial reforms would increase work hours, cut severance pay, and ease firings, steps the government argues are necessary for economic recovery and unions say are an erosion of workers’ rights.
